Why Spreckels Wealth
Management?

Why should you select Spreckels
Wealth Management as your
investment advisor?

There are three very important things to consider when hiring an investment advisor:

1

Make sure the advisor will act as a fiduciary – An advisor who is a fiduciary has to act in YOUR best interest and disclose any conflicts of interest in their recommendation. An advisor who is not a fiduciary only has to consider what is suitable for you, but may not be in your best interest. They are also held to a lower standard of care.

2

Make sure the advisor is “fee-only” – This means that the advisor does not accept any commissions, but derives 100% of their revenues from fees paid directly to the advisor from you. This mitigates most conflicts and creates transparency in the advisor’s recommendations.

3

Make sure the advisor is a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP) – This is usually evident by the CFP initials after the advisor’s name. A CFP designation means that the advisor has gone through a multi-year program on how to provide financial advice to you and serves as evidence of the commitment on the advisor’s part to provide the best advice possible. All advisors holding the CFP designation also has to abide by the CFP Board’s Code of Ethics.

Spreckels Wealth Management acts a fiduciary in providing investment advice to you. We do this on a “fee-only” basis, which means that you can rest assured that any recommendations are made with your best interest in mind and not as a way to generate more revenue for us. For example, any life insurance recommendation is implemented by your insurance agent, or other insurance professional and does not generate additional fees to us. The principal and founder of Spreckels Wealth Management also holds the CFP® designation, as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA®).
